Fritz Kaegi

Cook County Assessor

Fritz Kaegi believes that government should treat everyone fairly—not give special treatment to the wealthy or politically connected. The Cook County Assessor’s Office needs a leader who is fair and who will make assessments transparently, uncorrupted by influential donors. Kaegi refuses to take political contributions from lawyers or law firms who profit from the current opaque and corrupt system.

Fritz Kaegi grew up in Hyde Park, where his parents have lived for 40 years. He graduated from Kenwood High School, earned his BA from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, and his MBA at Stanford University. Fritz spent the last 13 years at Columbia Wanger Asset Management, as an investment analyst focused on valuing assets and serving as a financial steward, helping average families save for their retirement. In addition to being a Chartered Financial Analyst, Fritz also received the Certified Illinois Assessment Officer (CIAO) designation to help deepen his understanding of the property tax assessment system. A long-standing progressive Democratic donor and volunteer for progressive issues, Fritz lives in Oak Park with his wife and three children.
